This device must be connected to a laptop/computer to work. It is compatible with Windows system 11/10/8/7(32/64bit), Mac OS X version 10.10 or later. XP-PEN G430S pen tablet works as a mouse replacement for your computer. It makes handwritten write, edits, business signature easier, and annotates with a stylus for online education, e-learning, remote working, or web conference more convenient.

2. Driver Download and Installation Tips

Driver Download: Our driver will be regularly updated, so please go to our official web to download the newest driver, and install it on your computer.

2.1 Before Driver Installation:

Please Remove Other Brand’s Driver from your computer and reboot before installing the XP-PEN’s driver, or there will driver conflict problems.

2.2 For Windows Users：

Please close all drawing programs and run the driver as Administrator when installing the driver. (IMPORTANT)

2.3 For Mac Mojave (10.14), Catalina (10.15) Users:

Mac Mojave 10.14 or Above needs to add the "PenTabletSetting" and "PenTabletDriverUX" into the accessibility list first after installed XP-PEN Driver. Details steps please see the FAQ section on the XP-PEN web.
Mac Mojave (10.14) or above OS upgrade in the security section, you need to put programs you newly downloaded into accessibility list first to normally use it.

3. XP-PEN Provides Lifetime service on all Our Drawing Pen Tablets/Displays

When you have problems with the use of the Star G430S digital drawing pad, please checks the Quick Guide, search XP-Pen online to find a way to us for further assistance, we are always standing by to help!
If your order has any hardware problems within one year, we strongly advise you to contact XP-PEN, we will be glad to help you to replace it with a brand-new product (As long as the product is non-human made damaged or non-accidentally damaged).

The XP-Pen G 430 is my very first drawing tablet. I’m not really a visual artist, but I wanted to doodle while using my laptop. Like most people, I find drawing with the mouse hard and awkward so I decided to buy the G 430 because it was very affordable, and just in case I didn’t stick with drawing, I didn’t want to feel like I had wasted too much money on a tablet I was not going to use.

This little drawing tablet is great for newbies like me. The device is 6.5” long and 4” wide. The working area, however, is only 4” by 3.” The tablet comes with one pen, additional pen tips and a pen clip to help you remove and insert pen tips. If you’re using the tablet to play the game, it doesn’t need additional steps once it’s plug to your computer. If you want to use it for drawing, however, you have to go to the XP-Pen’s website and download the latest Star Series G430 driver. The manual can also be downloaded from there. Once the driver is installed, you can change the tablet settings to your needs. You can set up the tablet to work with two monitors, assign functions such as double click, right click, etc. to the two buttons on the pen, adjust the size of the working area on the tablet and change the pen pressure settings.

I’m using Microsoft Paint with the tablet, and I’m still getting used to working with the pen. I keep hitting the two buttons by accident when I’m drawing. Also, the pen/eraser toggle mystifies me since I haven’t figured out yet how to keep it in pen or eraser modes long enough to use either of them. I wouldn’t say it replaces the mouse, but it’s certainly much easier to draw with the pen. And yet it’s not like a regular pen. I have to be aware of how much pressure I’m applying and how I’m holding it. Otherwise, the tablet may not respond. As for the size of the working area, I think it’s okay once I got used to drawing while looking at the monitor and not at my hand. Since I’m using the G 430 solely for drawing, I can’t say anything of its performance as a game tablet. But as a drawing tablet, it’s a nice one for beginners. It’s light, doesn’t take up too much space and it’s easy to use. One more thing, I suggest investing on an artist glove, the kind that covers your pinky and ring fingers only, to prevent your hand from leaving sweat and oil smudges on your tablet.

SHIPPING: The G430S was packed snugly with sufficient foam sleeving and material. The pen, 10 spare nibs, metal nib replacer, and manuals were also in plastic bags. The cable was tightly wrapped and bent at at 90 degree angle from the base of the tablet when I unpacked it. I haven't had problems with connectivity, but something to note.

PRODUCT: The tablet came with an approximately 4.5ft (140cm) USB cable with a velcro tie (a nice touch). On the bottom there are four rubber corner feet, thickness roughly 1mm. Near the 'XP-Pen' logo, there is a small circular light that illuminates whenever the pen is in active range (10mm hover height) and whenever pressure is applied or a button is pressed. Other reviews mentioned scratching on the surface; for the time being, I've been using a sheet of paper to prevent scratching but bought an OEM tablet screen protector to apply later. The pen is fairly light at 0.4oz (10g).

DRIVERS: The tablet is plug-and-play if you plan to use it as a mouse/movement device. I wanted pressure functionality, so I went to the XP-Pen website and downloaded the respective driver (Windows 7, G430S). After the install, I experienced intermittent freezing for about 15-30 seconds. I was prompted to restart once the freezing stopped, and did not experience any stutter/freezes thereafter. The driver software has a pressure sensitivity curve, button mapping, and workspace area constraints (I've already remapped a button to be Ctrl+Z). The window will always be on top of all other windows (except task manager).

End thoughts: I really enjoy it. Works in SAI, but I don't know how it would work in Adobe or other e-sign applications. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and expect to enjoy drawing with the tablet for a long time.

I enjoy using the XP-Pen G430 because it is compact, light, and doesn't require drivers. This is really helpful when I am traveling and want to have a tablet ready for use. It works well with osu! since there isn't any input delay and the 4" x 3" active area is easy to navigate with the pen. The hover range (10mm) is also pretty far, so any hovering players can enjoy it. I play osu! pretty often and the tablet is pretty good for me; I just wished it was a little bit bigger when I got it, but I adjusted to the size now. The pen itself is very light and has two buttons; one is for right click and the other one is middle click.

The only downsides that the G430 has is that it is quite small compared to a Wacom device, such as the intuos small, which requires an adjustment from tablet to tablet. The scroll feature uses middle click instead of a click and hold + swipe to scroll pages. Otherwise, the tablet is nice for the amount paid.

I was introduced to XP-Pen at Anime Expo 2016 and they are a nice company with friendly employees. Shipping was on time and came in a small envelope package that contained the product box as well as the product itself. There is packaging material in the product box itself, so it shouldn't break or have any damage when it reaches its destination.
