Well, well, well, if it isn’t the latest tech tussle in town! The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has strutted onto the stage, aiming to steal the spotlight from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. But hold onto your popcorn, folks, because this saga has more twists and turns than a soap opera. Let’s dive into the curious case of the Galaxy S24 Ultra trying—and somewhat failing—to mimic the iPhone 15 Pro Max in all the wrong ways.
- Fast Charging Support
1. The Heavyweight Champion… Literally!
So, Samsung decided to go all out with titanium for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, just like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. But here’s the kicker: while the iPhone slimmed down to a sleek 221 grams, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is playing the heavyweight at a whopping 233 grams. That’s like choosing to wear lead boots to a ballet performance! Why titanium, Samsung? For durability? Or just to say, “Hey, we can do titanium too!” The jury’s still out on that one.
2. Zoom Into Confusion
Remember when Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra was the undisputed king of zoom? Those were the days! But in a plot twist that nobody saw coming, Samsung decided to swap its 10MP 10x telephoto zoom for a 50MP 5x lens in the S24. They claim it’s about higher resolution and lossless crop zoom, but let’s be real—it feels like showing up to a 3D movie and realizing you left your glasses at home. And yet, the 100X Space Zoom, as practical as a chocolate teapot, remains. Go figure!
3. The Price is Not Right
When Apple bumped up the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s price to $1,199, we all gasped. But Samsung, in a move as confusing as a Sudoku puzzle with no numbers, raised the Galaxy S24 Ultra to a jaw-dropping $1,299. That’s with the same 256GB of storage! It’s like going to a yard sale and finding out the prices are higher than a brand-new store. Samsung, you’re supposed to compete, not concede!
4. Qi2 Charging? Not for You!
And now, for the most baffling bit: the Galaxy S24 Ultra doesn’t support the new Qi2 charging standard. Imagine being at the forefront of tech innovation but then missing the bus on the latest charging tech. It’s like bringing a knife to a gunfight, or worse, a spoon. Galaxy S24 Ultra users, I hope you’re ready for the delicate dance of aligning your phone on an old Qi charger. It’s like playing Operation, but with your phone’s battery life at stake.
Conclusion
In the end, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s attempt to copy the iPhone 15 Pro Max is like ordering a gourmet meal and getting a TV dinner instead. It’s the tech equivalent of a comedy of errors, a tale of misplaced ambitions and curious choices. But hey, who doesn’t love a good drama? So grab your chargers (Qi2 or otherwise) and stay tuned for the next episode in the smartphone saga!

S24 is a Great Phone. My first renewed phone, the basic Samsung S24 model. Its listed condition was 'Excellent' and it was. I'd even say closer to mint. I wanted a different color but since I bought a black phone cover, the color didn't matter. I downloaded the UI update to 7.0 and Android 15. It's so fast and smooth when scrolling through webpages and files probably due to the 120hz refresh rate. All the former functions and apps from my old Samsung are there plus lots of new AI stuff. Using a USB-C cable and Smart Switch, it was simple to copy my old phone data. The biggest surprise was just how good the camera is on the basic S24. It's almost as if they rolled the best features from their 2022/2023 Ultra flagship phones into the S24. So, for $620.00. My single regret: I didn't buy the 256gb model. However, I am very happy with this phone. Highly Recommended. Two small issues.1. Because of its value, the phone cannot be shipped to a P.O. or an Amazon Locker. Instead, on the day of delivery, Amazon will email you a passcode which you need to read to the driver - in person. Yes, you have to be home for delivery or have someone there with the passcode. When I finally got my phone, it worked for me.2. When I originally reviewed the S24 product page, it said it would be delivered on the 27th July which was good for me as I would be travelling the week after. However, when I went to check out and paid, the delivery date changed to the first week in August. I was going to be out of town for two weeks. So I tried to cancel - but couldn't. Despite the fact that it hadn't been even shipped yet. So I had to redirect it to my future address. and I got the address wrong. The Amazon driver called 3 times to say he couldn't find my new address, despite me DM him a Google Maps Pin location. I had to phone Amazon to cancel the phone as I was unable to do it on line. When I got back home, I re-ordered the same phone model S24. It arrived on the promised date, passcode worked, and the phone is great. My account shows the cancelled order (original one) is still being processed though Amazon has credited my Credit Card. Strangely, the amount credited to my Amazon Gift Card is less than was used - $125 credit but only $118 returned. All in all, still a happy ending. Got my S24, credit card balance returned, and most of my Amazon Gift card money. :)Below, two recent photos from my new S24
So far so good. Ordered the excellent S24 Ultra 256GB, came with a charging block & usb-c cable and sim eject tool. The phone is in great shape and the battery health is good! Very clean, came in an aftermarket box that was well packaged. If anything changes I'll update this review, but so far I'm extremely pleased with the price & quality.
Three days of use working fine. Been using phone for 3 days , seems great so far. Still learning how settings are rearranged from my note8. Screen is great, still have screen saver on, until i decide on a case. Overall so far a great purchase.
Screen gave out. I would have given a 4 star review months ago, but at 7 months the screen is completely non functional. It's just bright white. In the span of a few days it went from starting to flicker, to mostly white but the icons were kinda visible, to a blinding bright white screen. After this started, the phone still appeared to be working, as it would still connect to Android Auto and I could still use Google Maps, but that is no longer the case either. When I plug it into my desktop, it doesn't register, I cannot access it. This leads me to believe it may be much more than just the screen that is not working. When I first got the phone, it had a small perfectly even quarter circle of dead pixels in the top right corner (~1/4" in size), I guess I should have returned it then, but it was a minor inconvenience and worked perfectly other than that. My previous phone was busted, so I decided to let it slide. That was a mistake, my mistake for sure, as I think it was indicative of some underlying damage. There is no visible physical damage on the phone, then or now. I have never dropped it and there isn't a mark on it.Now it looks like I'm in for an expensive repair, wiping out any savings I may have had from buying it refurbished in the first place.
Good. Bon produit
Refurb Excellent Condition S24+. Mint condition
Came in perfect condition. Had to get it unlocked. But the person that assisted was patient and helpful. There was a hiccup, but he didn't stop until he got it unlocked!! 10/10
Nice and working as expected
